Meet the Fi Global Startup Innovation Challenge 2022 Jury

The Fi Global Startup Innovation Challenge gives startups the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a jury of R&D experts, investors, and major F&B industry company representatives.

Paula Álvarez

Paula Álvarez currently works as Ecosystem Development Manager at Eatable Adventures. Paula is a nutritionist, specialised in marketing and product development for the food industry. She has wide experience in consumer analytics, strategic marketing and R&D. Paula obtained a BSc degree in Human Nutrition from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, holds an MSc Food Consumer Marketing and Product Development from the University Sheffield Hallam, and completed a program in Product Marketing at the ESIC Business School.


Alexandre Bastos

Alexandre Bastos is Senior Innovation Leader at Givaudan. With more than 20 years of experience in the food industry, mature and high growth markets, Alexandre has solid and hands-on experience in foodtech, venturing, entrepreneurship, strategy development and digital transformation. He also has a cross-functional and multi-cultural background, as well as previous experience working in consulting and oil industry.

Françoise Bechu

Françoise Bechu is an R&D Innovation Leader for General Mills in Europe. She joined General Mills 20 years ago and has held various roles in R&D across North America and Europe, delivering new products pipeline and growth renovation ideas. Originally from France, she has been living and working in 4 different countries developing some strong intercultural empathy. She holds a master’s degree in food science & technology from Agrocampus Ouest in France. Françoise is passionate about food and innovation, and she loves spending time trekking for new food trends in stores, restaurants, or social media. She has been interacting over the last year with a lot of food startups in the European network, sharing her passion for innovation and bringing the community together through different networking events.

Kevin Camphuis

Kevin Camphuis is the co-founder of ShakeUpFactory, a state of the art business and innovation accelerator dedicated to ag and foodtech. Based in Paris, inside StationF, it gathers an international ecosystem of 200+ startups, corporations and investors, leveraging synergies between them. Early 2022, it will open the French hub of the European EIT Food Accelerator Network.

Sandra Einerhand

Sandra Einerhand is the founder and head of Einerhand Science & Innovation, an award winning nutrition consultancy providing solutions to the food and beverage industry. Sandra also chairs the Nutrition Consultants Cooperative (NCC) and works on a freelance basis for Presans, a service provider in high-end open innovation. Previously, Sandra worked for Danone Nutricia, Tate & Lyle Ingredients and Lipid Nutrition as Scientific Program Director and Nutrition & Health Director. During the first part of her career, Sandra worked as associate/assistant professor in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Sandra studied Chemistry in Amsterdam and has a PhD in Medicine. In 2016, Sandra Einerhand came up with the idea to set-up the start-up innovation challenge and since then is one of its jury members. In 2021, Sandra received the Nutrachampion Award and Go Global Award.

Gil Horsky

Gil Horsky is part of the founding team for SnackFutures, the venture & innovation hub from Mondelēz International. Gil and his team in SnackFutures, are on a mission to invest in and develop innovative snacking ventures that are good for people, kind to the planet, and deliciously fun! Today, he is focusing on identifying and investing in high-growth well-being snacking brands and foodtech capabilities. Throughout his career, Gil has had the privilege to innovate for some of the most iconic global food brands, such as Milka, Pepsi, Quaker Oats, Toblerone, Cadbury, Oreo, Tropicana & Nestle, and to work across the globe in the US, Europe and the Middle East.


Sonia Huppert

Sonia Huppert is Global Innovation Marketing, RE-IMAGINE PROTEIN® at IFF, leading the industry roadmap for growth in alternative proteins. She has deep insight into food technology, product development, business development and strategic marketing from 25 years of experience in the industry, turning ideation into successful innovation for the food and beverage industry. Sonia holds an MSc in Microbiology-Enzymology and obtained a certificate in strategic marketing and digital from HEC Paris. Sonia lived and worked in different regions and developed a strong ability to lead multicultural and disperse teams.

Christiaan Kalk

Christiaan Kalk advises established and startup companies, as well as investors on regulatory feasibility and strategy. Over 30 years of experience and an open mind help to integrate divergent disciplines including toxicology, nutrition, microbiology, biotechnology, analytical chemistry, project management, outsourcing, public affairs and legislation. Within lsbi | life science-based innovations, EU novel food applications, registrations and data requirements since 1997 are tracked.

Marc-Antoine Olive

Marc-Antoine Olive is Co-founder and CEO of Feast Creative Foods, whose mission is to build the next generation market entry platform for innovative F&B brands into China. He is also operational partner at Feast Ventures, as well as an angel investor / advisor / board member focusing on 3 verticals: plant-based nutrition, new drinking experiences and smart / functional nutrition. Marc-Antoine has served in a variety of general management, marketing, commercial and business development roles for 20 years, across 7 mature and emerging markets in Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, and within 3 major Food Multinationals (Danone, PepsiCo, General Mills). 


Thomas van den Boezem

Thomas van den Boezem is Senior Associate at PeakBridge, a global FoodTech VC firm. Formerly, Thomas was Investment Manager at EIT Food and Investment Analyst at Innovation Industries. Previously, he also led the investment readiness & tech transfer programs at StartLife with Wageningen University. Thomas founded BoxBites, a healthy snacking subscription company. He holds an MSc in Management, Economics, and Consumer Studies as well as a BSc in Public Health from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.

Matthieu Vincent

Matthieu Vincent is a FoodTech expert with more than ten years of experience in this field. Matthieu first co-founded one of the first French FoodTech startups, and then he co-founded DigitalFoodLab. DigitalFoodLab is a FoodTech insight and strategy consultancy, helping large corporations, investors and entrepreneurs to identify and leverage FoodTech opportunities. He is also an advisor, investor and board member to many FoodTech startups.

Albrecht Wolfmeyer

Albrecht Wolfmeyer has built up and is heading the ProVeg Incubator, the world's leading incubator of plant-based, fermentation, and cultured-food startups. Our 50+ alumni from all over the world have raised over €230 million and launched products in over 15,000 stores. ProVeg Incubator is part of the food awareness organisation, ProVeg International, committed to the mission of reducing the consumption of animals by 50% by the year 2040. Albrecht has extensive professional experience in international profit and non-profit organizations and is an expert in NPO management, startup coaching, investment, strategy, marketing and communications. Albrecht was the co-founder and managing director of an online fundraising startup. He studied in Berlin, Toronto, Paris, and Fribourg.

Amir Zaidman

Amir Zaidman is a seasoned executive with close to 20 years of experience in business development and venture capital investments. Since 2014, Amir has been serving as the vice president of business development of "The Kitchen Hub" - the first FoodTech focused seed investor and technology incubator in Israel. In this capacity, he provides biz-dev and marketing support to portfolio companies and he is also in charge of The Kitchen's new investments where he has led the investment process in 23 portfolio companies to date. Amir serves on the board of directors of numerous private and publically traded FoodTech companies.
