What knowledge is already available and how do we make optimal use of this to support the development of new evidence-based immune health promoting products? For this purpose, TNO develops data workflows based on our combined expertise in food and data science, metabolic health, microbiology and immune health. Ourworkflows contain different modules to support: beneficial ingredient identification; repurposing ingredients;R&D target identification; study design optimisation (biomarkers, assays, dosing);and quick screeningfor adverse/beneficial immune effects.

Dr Jolanda van Bilsen – Expert in Immune Health, TNO
Jolanda van Bilsen is Senior Scientist Immune Health and Food Allergy at TNO. She is a board certified Immunologist (SMBWO) and a European registered Toxicologist (ERT). The unifying theme of her work at TNO has been the application of academic knowledge to modify and/or strengthen immune responses by microbes, pharma or food components. She is currently involved in several applied research programs applying artificial intelligence solutions in immune health, food allergy and immunotherapy initiatives, and works as a consultant for companies.
