What was the purpose of this white paper – what were your key aims and objectives?

“The white paper aims to introduce clinically-researched evidence that backs ExcelVite’s branded ingredients (EVNol SupraBio™ and EVTene™) in delivering beauty-from-within, such as skin health and hair growth. The white paper also touches on other scientifically-substantiated health benefits of these branded ingredients for a wholesome ‘Wellness Beauty’ approach.”

Who is this white paper targeted at?

“The white paper should be of interest to product formulators, R&D, contract manufacturers and personal care product brands. It also targets beauty drinks, functional food and beverages, and dietary supplement suppliers.”

“Like other industries, the beauty sector has evolved significantly to keep up with consumers’ changing needs and demands. In particular, we expect younger consumers to pay even more attention to beauty and personal care products.”

“This can be seen in the use of social media to promote self-image and products. These digitally savvy consumers are more diverse, better educated, idealistic, impatient and highly connected. They like interacting directly with brands and want to know what products are about, and how they can benefit them. They are also very much concerned about the causes that companies care about.”

Let’s talk about some of the highlights from the white paper. Tell me about EVNol SupraBio – what is this and what are its key benefits?

“EVNol SupraBio™ is a patented and bioenhanced, self-emulsifying full spectrum palm tocotrienol/tocopherol complex that ensures improved oral absorption of individual tocotrienol by an average of 250 %. Tocotrienol, together with tocopherol, are part of the Vitamin E family.”

“Clinical research conducted on EVNol SupraBio™ have shown health benefits in promoting skin health and hair growth via oral supplementation or topical application. EVNol SupraBio™ has also been reported to show superior antioxidant activity and unique biological activity in hair follicle genesis at the stem cell level. All clinical evidence is cited on our website.”

In what form is EVNol SupraBio™ available?

“EVNol SupraBio™ is available in various forms to cater for different applications such as dietary supplements, functional food and beverages and personal care / topical products. It is used in oral products like Shiseido Pure White Beauty Drink, and topical products like Perricone MD Hypoallergenic Nourishing Moisturizer.”

Tell me about the key characteristics of your EVTene product.

“EVTene™ is a natural mixed-carotene complex extracted and concentrated from non-GMO palm fruit, which is the richest natural plant source for alpha- and beta-carotene.”

“Unlike other commercial sources that consist of only one majority form of beta-carotene (96 % - 100 %), EVTene™ mixed-carotene complex naturally contains about 33 % of alpha-carotene and 65 % of beta-carotene, with 2 % other carotenoids.”

What are some of the main health benefits?

“What is unique is that the carotenoid composition in EVTene™ mirrors that found in carrots. Research has shown that supplementation of multi-carotenoids (containing alpha- and beta-carotene) can protect human skin from sun ray damage.”

“As well as skin health, EVTene™ may also enhance products that address healthy ageing, weight management and vision. Some oral products on the market containing EVTene™ include Jarrow Formulas CarotenAll, and NuSkin LifePak. Again, you can find all supporting clinical evidence on our website.”

More broadly, how do you see the beauty market evolving over the next few years?

“The beauty market will continue to change and evolve over the next few years. While topical products will still be the preferred delivery system, we are expecting more oral beauty products for skin and hair health, and even injectable products to hit the market.”

“The younger generation is also generally known to be impatient! They want to see ‘instant’ results, or at least, good results in the shortest period of time. This is why clinically-researched and sustainably-sourced ingredients for a specific beauty solution that delivers immediate results is critical. This will help to gain consumer trust, and be further promoted through sharing and word of mouth.”

“Finally, as consumers are more knowledgeable and digital-savvy these days, it is crucial for companies to invest in content marketing and digital platforms for education, awareness and engagement.”

You mentioned earlier that consumers are increasingly concerned about causes. As a company, how important is sustainability to your operations?

“Being a responsible branded ingredient company, ExcelVite is committed to ensuring that the production process of all our ingredients does not pose any risk or harm to the environment. Our company is certified with Supply Chain Certifications from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO).”

“While our business goal is to provide clinically-researched and sustainably-produced ingredients for the benefits of everyone, and to make people feel better, we are mindful of mother Earth. We need to take care of the environment by ensuring that the entire value chain is sustainable. In everything we do, we strive to give back and to uphold the three pillars of life, namely, economy, social and environment.”
